Three years goes very quickly. That’s right, it was all the way back in 2018 that Ableton released version 10 of its much-celebrated DAW. Now, the company has revealed that Live 11 will be released in early 2021.
Since the dawn of the millennium, musicians have been turning to Live to provide the ultimate blend of recording, production and live performance. In Live 11, the DAW’s essential features have been enhanced and new tools have been introduced to make Live an even more compelling choice.

For the first time, Live will bring the power of comping to recording sessions. Having the ability to record continuously while staying on top of your takes is beneficial to the flow of recording.
In Live 11, multiple passes will be stored in lanes for easy comping. Plus, it works with MIDI.
Live 11 offers new ways to edit and interact with MIDI Polyphonic Expression. An increasing number of MIDI controllers cater to this advanced form of MIDI expression, allowing for independent control over the parameters of each note.
Live’s own instruments — Wavetable, Sampler and Arpeggiator — will also include support for MPE.
New effects, like the luscious Hybrid Reverb and a suite of spectral processors, are also part of the update. Inspired by Nature was made in collaboration with Dillon Bastan and comprises of devices that use the forces of gravity, magnetism, and more to create unexpected musical results.
Connecting with acoustic instruments on stage has never been intuitive with the Tempo Following feature. Tempos within Live 11 can be driven by any incoming audio source, making for natural connections between the Live environment and collaborators on stage.
Speaking of acoustic instruments, Live has teamed up with Spitfire Audio to deliver three new collections: Upright Piano, Brass Quartet and String Quartet. There are also three new curated packs, including Voice Box, Mood Reel and Drone Lab.
